Workshop Operative
Salary: -12.74 per hour
Hours: 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
Location: Bishop's Stortford
Hours: 40 hours per week + overtime available at an enhanced rate
Prime Appointments are currently recruiting for a Workshop Operative to join a busy engineering environment based near Bishop's Stortford. This is a hands-on opportunity suited to someone with a background in metalwork, fabrication or general workshop environments. The successful candidate will be working with metal components and equipment, carrying out assembly, disassembly, cutting and general workshop duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembling and dismantling metal components and equipment
- Cutting and preparing metal to required specifications
- Using hand tools and power tools safely
- Assisting with general workshop and engineering tasks
- Measuring and checking components
- Following drawings, instructions and specifications where required
- Keeping the workshop clean, organised and safe
- Supporting experienced engineers and fabricators with day-to-day tasks
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous workshop, metalwork, fabrication or engineering experience
- An understanding of assembling and dismantling components
- Experience using hand and/or power tools
- The ability to measure, cut and prepare metal
- A practical and hands-on approach to work
- Good attention to detail
- A full UK driving licence due to the rural location of the site
