About this role
This is a contract role for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a leading main contractor delivering a major construction project in the Northwest, based in Liverpool. The successful candidate will support the pre-construction and commercial function, reviewing design information and preparing tender documentation. Day-to-day duties include reviewing design drawings and specifications to identify commercial risks, discrepancies and potential opportunities, preparing tender documentation and comprehensive tender books for subcontract packages, and managing subcontractor tender enquiries. You will analyse and compare subcontractor quotations, identify scope gaps and cost implications, and support subcontract procurement, tender adjudications and package negotiations.
Job Description
We are working with a leading main contractor delivering a major construction project in the Northwest, looking to recruit an experienced Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the pre-construction and commercial function. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing design information, preparing tender documentation and supporting the procurement process to ensure packages are commercially robust and ready for delivery.
Your Day-To-Day Duties:
Reviewing design drawings and specifications to identify commercial risks, discrepancies and potential opportunities
Preparing tender documentation and comprehensive tender books for subcontract packages
Managing subcontractor tender enquiries and coordinating the tender process
Analysing and comparing subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive and compliant submissions
Identifying scope gaps, design development issues and potential cost implications
Supporting subcontract procurement, tender adjudications and package negotiations
Liaising with design teams, project managers and commercial colleagues to resolve queries
Assisting with cost planning, budget reviews and value engineering opportunities
Maintaining accurate tender records and ensuring all commercial documentation is up to date
The Requirements
Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial role within the construction industry
Strong pre-construction experience, particularly design review and tender preparation
Previous experience preparing tender documentation and subcontract tender books
Experience working for a main contractor
Strong understanding of subcontract procurement, tender analysis and commercial risk management
Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and support the pre-construction process effectively
Rate & Package
The day rate is £420450 per day (Sole Trader), dependent on experience. This is an excellent freelance opportunity to support a major construction project in Liverpool, with an immediate start available for the right candidate.
