About this role
This is a temporary HGV Class 1 Driver/Shunter role in Bedford, paying £19 to £21 per hour. Working night trunking shifts only, you will carry out HGV Class 1 trunking work safely and efficiently and complete scheduled trunking runs between designated locations. You will also conduct daily vehicle safety checks, report defects promptly, complete delivery and vehicle documentation accurately, and comply with drivers' hours, tachograph and road safety regulations. Our client, a major company based in Bedford, is looking for experienced HGV Class 1 Driver/Shunter to join their team on an ongoing basis. Night trunking shifts available only.
Key Responsibilities for HGV Class 1 Driver/Trunking:
- Carry out HGV Class 1 trunking work safely and efficiently.
- Complete scheduled trunking runs between designated locations.
- Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects promptly.
- Ensure all journeys are completed in accordance with company procedures and legal requirements.
- Complete relevant delivery and vehicle documentation accurately.
- Comply with drivers' hours, tachograph and road safety regulations.
- Maintain professional communication with depot staff, customers and other road users.
- Work independently while maintaining high standards of safety and reliability.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures.

Requirements for HGV Class 1 Driver/Trunking:
- Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence.
- Minimum 6 years' driving experience in the UK.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Maximum of 6 points on your driving licence.
- Previous HGV Class 1 Shunting experience is preferred.
- Good communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work.
